Description: Here is a farmer, Clyde Kenshaw Plainwell, from Alpena County standing proudly in front of his corn cop. The sowpile at the left of Mr. Kenshaw shows an average sowpile of corn unfertilized. At the right 200 pounds of a "good" mixed fertilizer was used per acre. The difference here was between 40 and 100 baskets or corn per acre.
