Subjects: Cooperative Extension Service
Description: This image is the blueprint on how to design and construct a safety cap box. The safety cap was referred to as "the most dangerous part of blasting materials" by the county agent. To prevent injury and encourage safety the Cooperative Extension set up a competition involving the design and construction of the best cap box amongst handicraft club members in the Upper Peninsula. The competition was successful, producing over 200 boxes that are now "in the hands of the fathers of these boys."
