Correspondence with Erle Stanley Gardner

Back

Creator: Erle Stanley Gardner, Ralph Turner
Subjects: Faculty
Description: Erle Stanley Gardner, perhaps best known for his novels about the fictitious lawyer and detective Perry Mason, was a long-time friend of Ralph Turner. Turner and Gardner met shortly following Turner’s employment as a professor of Police Administration at Michigan State University. Due to their mutual interest in Police Science and Criminalistics, both men exchanged letters on a regular basis and remained in correspondence until Gardner’s death in 1970.

The letters below involve a discussion of Gardner’s book, "The Case of the Green-Eyed Sister." In 1953, Gardner dedicated his novel to Ralph Turner in order to acknowledge his contributions to the field of Police Science.
