Title: Oscar Clute was the first State Agricultural College alumnus to become president of the College
Description: Oscar Clute, class of 1862, was an instructor in pure and applied mathematics at the State Agricultural College (MSU) in the 1860s. He left the college to pursue a career as a minister. In 1889, the State Board of Agriculture (the college's governing board) appointed Clute the fifth college president. Clute was the first college graduate to hold this position.
