Description: In the midst of World War II, the Board of Trustees proposed that consideration should be given to discontinuing intercollegiate athletics for the duration of the war. This was due to the ban on participation in intercollegiate athletics by members of the armed forces in training on campus. The 1943 football season was canceled.
