On January 23, 1963, Malcolm X spoke at Michigan State University. First, he gave a press conference at the Union Sun Parlor at MSU about the race problem, aims of Black Muslims, the James Meredith case of 1962 and Mississippi. Later that day, Malcolm X gave a speech at Erickson Kiva to students and faculty about race problems, the Black Muslim religion and its ideas.
